1.Reporting a problem
Include these four things and you will get a useful answer faster:
- The app version - tap the Lumen mark at the top of the feed, then read the line at the bottom of the About screen
- Your device and operating system version, for example “iPhone 14 Pro, iOS 26.1”
- What you were doing when it went wrong
- What you expected to happen instead
A screenshot helps if something looked wrong on screen.
2.Where to get Lumen
Lumen is a mobile app, coming soon to the App Store and Google Play. Until it is out you can still reach us at the address at the foot of this page.
3.Where Lumen’s content comes from
Lumen does not write the news. Its context cards - small panels of sourced facts attached to a story - are built from the sources below.
- Headlines and article summaries come from the news organisations that published them. Every story links back to the original.
- Story images load directly from the publisher - Lumen does not copy or re-host them.
- Public records - company filings, charity registers, registers of interests - come from the official registers that publish them, and every card names the register its figures were read out of. This material includes public sector information licensed under the Open Government Licence v3.0, and information licensed under the Open Parliament Licence v3.0.
Every story names the organisations that reported it. If you publish news and want to talk to us about how your material appears in Lumen - including asking for it to be removed - please get in touch.
4.Getting a fact corrected
Lumen’s context cards state facts drawn from public registers, and those registers are sometimes out of date or wrong.
Context cards carry a report control of their own. Stories carry one at the foot, and the About screen has Report a problem for anything else. Whichever you use, send the story, the card, and what looks wrong.
5.Your data
Lumen has no accounts, no sign-in and no advertising, and it asks for no device permissions. What it does handle is set out in the privacy policy.
